READ MOREA flat yellow block never passes for butter, and a buyer can tell within seconds of picking it up. At Jinhua Donghong Arts & Crafts in Xiaoshun Town, Zhejiang, the realism of a butter soft PU squishy is decided in the mold room, where colored PU mixtures go in before the foam cures. A coating applied afterward cannot reproduce that depth. Below is how we layer color, where production problems appear, and what we can customize and document for importers.
Real butter runs a deeper yellow at the edges and paler toward the center, and cheese adds faint marbling on top. Mix one color into the whole PU batch and the butter soft PU squishy that comes out has the same tone everywhere. Shoppers at your retail shelf will read that evenness as plastic. Single-color molding still suits simple novelty shapes, but a food-realistic line needs more than one color in the mold.
We pour more than one colored PU mixture into the mold before curing and let the colors blend only at their boundaries. Timing controls the outcome. Too little blending leaves hard lines between colors. Too much erases the marbled finish the design was meant to show. Because the blend ratio has to repeat on every batch, we can make a reference sample for your approval and compare production pieces against it.

Some designs skip food colors and use pearlescent additives for a rainbow-shifting look. The additive changes how light reflects off the surface, and it can settle unevenly while the foam rises. Curing conditions may need adjusting so it spreads across the whole shape. For production planning, a food-realistic butter soft PU squishy and an iridescent one on the same mold are two separate jobs.
Rebound speed comes from the cell structure of the slow rebound PU foam, and a multi-color pour has to leave that structure intact. When one section of a piece springs back faster than another, uneven foam density from the pour is the usual cause, not the base formula. Every butter soft PU squishy in a batch should recover at a similar pace across its surface. We can supply sample pieces so rebound can be checked at several points on the surface.
Smooth surfaces wipe clean. A textured cheese rind or butter-block edge adds realism but holds dust. Retailers running open bins tend to pick smooth finishes, while textured versions suit boxed or packaged sales where the surface stays covered. Solid-color and layered finishes are both available across our shape library, so we quote each butter soft PU squishy shape in either style.

Sizes and the number of color layers can be customized to your drawing or reference piece. Share the target size and layer count, and we confirm what the mold can hold. Sampling usually takes 1–2 weeks, depending on our production schedule at the time. Minimum order quantity is set per project and depends on how detailed the design is: a two-tone block and a multi-layer cheese wedge are quoted separately. Distributors and private label buyers can send artwork or a physical reference, and we quote from there.
Our paperwork includes Test Reports, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), a Certificate of Conformity (CoC), and a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC), and the PU material is tested for odor and for compliance with relevant children’s product safety standards. We can provide the documents that apply to the specific butter soft PU squishy model you plan to order, so your compliance team can match them to the market you ship to.
Photos understate how a marbled surface looks once the foam has fully cured. We can send cured samples so you can judge the layered effect directly, then confirm size, color layers, finish, and quantity with our sales team. A butter soft PU squishy line is easier to approve once the layered effect has been seen on a finished piece.
